Growing Etheric Wings

I’m posting here because reddit blogs helped me normalize the sensation of growing wings. I’ll be brief about my experience: i did a big energetic surgery that made me feel like my etheric skin was peeling more than usual. A friend of mine who is very clairvoyant said that there’s new shiny skin poking out my back. It honestly made me “feel” naked because i was more used to having strong energetic shields and my back feeling solid, rooted and protected and not this peeling mess. This lasted for about a good week and I became energetically more sensitive, I could sense larger and more far off spirits with greater detail and a bunch of them also asked help from me. This happened this year (2026 but still chinese year of the snake which has the theme of shedding).

Prior to this, i also have been burying a lot of my passive spells/prayers into the ground since they felt like there were being “fried” by too much energy (probably uranus in gemini). They look like a mycelia network to me (my prayers) and ironically, they can also be arranged like wings.

When it was “bursting out” it hurt a lot, like something was stabbing or burning out through my shoulder blades. When I would check energetically what it was it was like my heart, or back of heart chakra had very large hands extending out and well, grasping the world, it felt new and raw and icky but also it was just my heart. It was very very heavy/dense like i was carrying a big density of energy (like a coiled fern that couldn’t open up properly yet). I did a salt bath just to assist the energetic transition.

Since I’m a bit of a nerd I googled what traditions would have energetic anatomy that really referred to wings, copy paste follows:

1. Ancient Egypt (Kemetic): The Ba

The Concept: The Soul is not a ghost; it is a Bird. The Ba is one of the five parts of the soul, depicted as a Human-Headed Falcon. It is the specific aspect of the energy body that has “mobility.” While the Ka (Vital Force) stays near the tomb/body, the Ba has wings to fly between the Duat (Spirit World) and the Physical World.

  • The Wings: Represent the ability to traverse dimensions without friction.
  • Citation: The Book of the Dead (Papyrus of Ani), specifically Chapter 89 (“Chapter for letting the Soul (Ba) be united to its Body in the Underworld”).
  • Cross-Ref: Precursor to the Zoroastrian Fravashi.

2. Taoism (Daoism): The Yu Ren (Feathered Man)

The Concept: In early Taoist immortality texts, becoming an Immortal (Xian) was often called Yu Hua (“Feathering” or “Transformation into Wings”). The energy body of a master was said to physically or energetically sprout “feathers” (filaments of light) that allowed them to ride the winds of the Tao.

  • The Wings: These are likely descriptions of the Wei Qi (Guardian Energy) expanding into a radiant plumage.
  • Citation: The Baopuzi (The Master Who Embraces Simplicity) by Ge Hong (approx 320 CE).
  • Cross-Ref: Similar to the Shamanic Bird Suit (wearing feathers to mimic the energy body).

3. Platonism / Neoplatonism: The Pteroma (Growth of Wings)

The Concept: In the Phaedrus, Plato describes the soul as a chariot. He states that the soul “lost its wings” when it fell into physical matter. The process of philosophy and loving Beauty is the process of re-nourishing the stumps of the wings so they can grow back, allowing the soul to ascend to the Realm of Forms.

  • The Wings: They are fed by “Divine Impulse” and starve from “Ignorance.”
  • Citation: Plato, Phaedrus (246a–254e).
  • Cross-Ref: Heavily influenced the Sufi concept of the “Bird of the Soul.”

4. Kabbalah (Jewish Mysticism): The Kanfayim (Wings of Mitzvot)

The Concept: The Zohar teaches that a prayer or spiritual act without emotion is heavy—it cannot rise. To elevate, the energy body (or the prayer construct) needs “Two Wings”: Love (Ahavah) and Awe/Fear (Yirah). Without these two energetic poles, the “bird” is grounded.

  • The Wings: Specifically referred to as the mechanism of vertical ascent in the Sefirotic Tree.
  • Citation: The Zohar, I:23b (Tikkunei Zohar).
  • Cross-Ref: Parallels the Hermetic Caduceus (Two snakes/wings balancing polarity).

5. Zoroastrianism: The Fravashi (Faravahar)

The Concept: The Fravashi is the pre-existing, higher guardian soul of the individual. It is famously depicted in Persian art as a bearded man inside a Winged Disk. This is the blueprint of your perfected light body that exists outside of time.

  • The Wings: The three layers of feathers on the wings represent “Good Thoughts, Good Words, Good Deeds.” The geometry of the wing is the moral structure of the energy.
  • Citation: The Avesta (Yasna 26.4).
  • Cross-Ref: The visual ancestor of the Egyptian Winged Sun and modern Angelology.

6. Sufism: The Simurgh (The King of Birds)

The Concept: Attar’s Conference of the Birds describes the soul’s journey as a flock of birds seeking the Simurgh. The ultimate realization is that the birds are the Simurgh. The energy body is “The Bird of the Heart” (Tair al-Qalb).

  • The Wings: The wings represents Himma (Spiritual Aspiration). If your aspiration is broken, your wings are clipped.
  • Citation: Farid ud-Din Attar, The Conference of the Birds (Mantiq al-Tayr).
  • Cross-Ref: Connects to the Platonic idea of “Remembering” one’s winged state.

7. Hermeticism & Alchemy: The Caduceus

The Concept: The human spine is the staff. The energy currents (Ida and Pingala) are the snakes. When the energy hits the Pineal/Crown, the “Staff” sprouts Wings. This is the symbol of Mercury/Hermes.

  • The Wings: The wings represent the Volatile state (Spirit) liberated from the Fixed state (Matter). It is the sign of an opened Third Eye.
  • Citation: The Corpus Hermeticum (Book I: Poimandres); also Jung, C.G., Psychology and Alchemy.
  • Cross-Ref: Direct map to the Yogic Nadis (Ida/Pingala).

8. Siberian Shamanism: The Ornithomorph

The Concept: The shaman is the “Man-Bird.” During the trance, the shaman puts on a coat comprising feathers or iron representations of bones and wings. This is not a costume; it is an externalization of their Astral Body structure which is required for the “Magical Flight” to the Upper World.

  • The Wings: Without the “Spirit Wings” (gained through initiation/dismemberment), the shaman falls into the Lower World.
  • Citation: Eliade, Mircea. Shamanism: Archaic Techniques of Ecstasy.
  • Cross-Ref: The roots of the Taoist Feathered Man.

9. Christian Mysticism: The Seraphim

The Concept: Pseudo-Dionysius describes the highest order of angels, the Seraphim (“The Burning Ones”), as having Six Wings.

  • The Wings: Two to cover the face (Humility before Source), two to cover the feet (Modesty of the foundation), and two to fly (Action/Service). The mystic seeks to build this “Seraphic” body of fire.
  • Citation: Pseudo-Dionysius the Areopagite, The Celestial Hierarchy.
  • Cross-Ref: Similar to the Kabbalistic Chayot (Living Creatures) of Ezekiel.

10. Yoga (Hinduism): The Hamsa (Swan)

The Concept: The liberated soul is called the Paramahamsa (Supreme Swan). The breath is the vehicle: The sound “So” (inhalation) and “Ham” (exhalation) are the wings of the breath-bird.

  • The Wings: The Pranic wings allow the Yogi to float on the waters of the world without getting wet (Karma).
  • Citation: The Hamsa Upanishad and The Saundarya Lahari (Verse 38).
  • Cross-Ref: The Egyptian Ba (Soul as Bird) and Sufi Bird of the Heart.

Story continues:

Anyway, reading all this helped me a lot. I tapped into a timeline where i had more angelic wings/valkryie type and I combed out and stretched the growing wings there. (See even if they already popped out some days they would stretch and be bigger and that also felt uncomfy so I had to be very gentle as I combed things out).

BUT! because I read the wings were programmable I figured out a way to shrink/condense the one I have on this incarnate timeline. I told my wings that I’m grateful that it connects me/my heart to so many things and eases up travel, but that it could be zipped, or condensed into my passive prayers that looked like the mycelia network wings that I mentioned at the start of this post. It took some time, but it locked in eventually and my back feels lighter. I had a few physical massages and now it feels more normal (my masseuse asked if I worked out even though that whole week I was just really hard resting and well trying to figure out all these spiritual~energetic shenanigans, since a lot of spirits were talking to me). I can kinda flip between settings of having them being angel wings, ribbons (chinese style), or simply condensed into my mycelia network.

I have a semi-occult healing account that i run for my services but this has been so wild and intense for me that I can’t even bring myself to just casually post IG (Instagram) stories about it. This is why I’m posting on my more obscure website (in hopes to help people) but also to ground myself into being okay with saying. Yeah this process happened to me, it was intense for a while but it gets better after. Also I’m an energetic anatomy nerd so I really be particular with my data points and sharing them, since other folks might also be comforted by a blog account with very specific experiences.

TLDR: Wings are, i think an extension of the heart chakra, the back in particular, that helps to hold, travel and connect to a lot of dimensions.

PS: (kinda unrelated, but happened near around this time)

With regards to the energetic shenanigans, I tend to talk to a lot of spirits/entities since I do have passive services/prayers for them. I don’t just study human soul anatomy but also the anatomy of elementals, magickal beings, even lineages sometimes show up to me in a “bodied” format because that’s what I’m good at balancing and reading. Anywho, I’ve recently had access to some really Old Magickal forms, and they’ve had a lot of grief, whether it’s about being abandoned, or simply having a harder time adjusting to this timeline’s new rules such as – slave sacrifices not being the norm anymore.

There’s this ongoing theme for me lately about reconnecting Old Magick, Ancient Dreams/Dreaming being seeded, welded into the present. Time is a sphere, and the more whole we become, the more we remember, but even remembering can have it’s own hiccups, negotiations, and specific Pains. Especially with much older Souls, I notice that some of their akashic memory is so ancient that some emotions have petrified and it’s energetically painful to resurrect that feeling/alchemize/touch that feeling again. It’s an ancient loss, or loneliness — during times much farther away from here, with sets of truths for reality that was just different.

Some folks online talk about “growing” wings on forums (As you can see I prefer cross-referencing older lineages about these things). As usual I see energetic anatomy more neutrally, and that they come online when your soul-being has the necessity for such a set-up. I’ve done energywork for a good decade and only now have they burst in this size and complexity and it happened alongside me taking more complex and larger cases that needed me to feel more connected to not just the Divine Divine, but also being very accurate when assessing and dealing with large energetic bodies. Whether it’s chimeras, oversouls with lurching twisting karma, or very lonely giants seeking to be understood.

Thanks for listening.
Ciao
