Walk-ins, Walk-outs and Multiple Soul Theory in Case Studies and More

When one first encounters the idea of a multiple-souls (in one body) as a shaman, for a while it sounds odd and outstanding until it just slowly starts to make sense. Just like how ecosystems, and even our bodies are made up of a lot of organisms, it is not so wild two seperate soul entities in one body. It’s like having the vehicle of the body (a car) having 2 or more passengers. There’s one driver and the others are observing, coaching or just having a ride. Sometimes it’s a little more elaborate with souls really weaving into each other, kind of lke Voltron or Steven Universe, Dragon Ball Z fusion and having an amalgam of the best part of say, two souls. Cultures have had terms for two spirited individuals and I even have a podcast episode with a channeler who has DID, who helps me delineate the difference between someone who has DID or simply has, multiple souls.

For folks who are new to me: I’m Maria, and I have all my clairsenses on, particularly when I do client sessions. So when I say I see two souls, or person’s soul feels fragmented, patchy or the soul that entered is not the same as the soul that’s left: I’m not speaking from an intuitive, gut feeling. It’s like looking at a gameboard to me, or a diagnosis sheet: Oh your body is not fully ensouled. Or: Oh! there’s two of you, but one of them hangs out in the background.

I write all of this because when I was a beginning psychopomp/shaman, I always preferred first hand accounts that had good energetic transmissions of the cases that they would handle. There’s a lot of he-said she-said kind of gossiping or airy fairy posts so I always appreciated the folks who posted in an almost clinical manner of for example: the common signs of someone having a walk-in, or what usually triggered these events. I’ve since gotten a lot better at dealing with spirit, especially with discerning soul contracts, or simply asking soul to re-tether in a body, so I thought it would be best to delineate my findings for folks who want to look into this topic more.

I’ll discuss a few things that typically overlap:

Guides temporarily possessing/moving your body is channeling, not necessarily a walk-in/walk-out experience. Your guides can look/vibrate like you (or not) and can feel very familiar as an energy, and a “possession” can feel overwhelming, since it’s an enirely different entity, usually a bit stronger than you, but if they don’t take up your long-term karma, you were most likely channeling them for a task that you were trying to accomplish. Maybe you needed more wisdom that was beyond your years, or your energy body was so weakened to a point that protector guides needed to step in and shield you from a highly stressful event. For some religious folks they could even call these guardian angel experiences. What I want to emphasize though is that, spirits that often hang around you are guides that can be assigned in the short-term (project based) or long-term (life-aligned), and they can feel very present around you, but don’t feel encased in the identity of the “You” that’s living the life/incarnation. Okay cool, next idea.

Souls usually have different shapes and competencies. So when I say I observe a soul that’s been an animal a lot and doesn’t know how to be human, I mean that both on a mythic and literal level. I usually don’t prefer “categorizing” a soul as “young” or “old” because some folks misinterpret this as some kind of hierarchy. When one looks at a tree, whether it’s a sapling or a grand oak, no one part of it’s life span is inherently better than the other, it’s just a natural progression and variation of things. Some souls are from very far away, some are made of the stuff of the earth, some are wild, some are simple, some are verbose, some are dynamic and up for a fight and some are very very tired. So when folks are curious with why would a walk-in and a walk-out happen it’s simple: the soul doesn’t feel fit to the lifeplan their incarnation is planning out, so they just leave. Sometimes they leave during an accident, a grave illness, some even just have a deep sleep and a very poignant dream of leaving, or emptying out their karmic debt and walking out. Whatever it is usually the vessel that’s left behind is still a “very playable game”, and thus another soul can take up the ongoing karma on that body. Here’s the funny thing: a lot of folks tend to “walk-out” on very hard lives as well, so a lot of large and highly competent souls can choose really difficult lives to walk-in and “press play” to. What these feel like to me is that they’re soul energies feel large, and their energetic ancestry and wisdom feels long, but it’s not necessarily always fully expressed. Sometimes they feel very alienated, or have really strong amnesia of their previous competencies and talents. Some of them may not have been human for a long time so they don’t know how human life is played out like, or they have some crazy shadow-jutsu going on that makes them look very toxic in an unorthodox drunken master kind of way. So again, really consider the shape and competency of the soul and not just the age, see what the intention is on both the life that’s entered and the life’s that left.

Now when dealing with walk-ins and walk-outs it’s best to check-in on the ongoing karma that the body retains. Did the soul that walk out simply run out of karma/ or lifeplans and just wanted a hard reboot of chapter two? Or are they passing their current project to tap in a teammate? Usually souls that left can be kind of accessed whether as data or even as full soul entities that you can still converse with. For clients who are usually rattled with the sudden shocks and change of behaviour, energy and mood, it can take a while for them to accept that the soul that operates the body is different now. You’re playing an old deck of cards but the soul moving it is different. If anything most of the time, these clients are simply looking for affirmation, and this is really where the clarity of one’s channels are important so that you can orient the new walk-in to the situation they’re entering in. I have prompted walk-ins and walk-outs to happen, only when it was completely consensual and spirit agreed to it. Usually it’s when multi-souled clients don’t mesh too well, or when client’s invoke so hard on new soul contracts that it summons a whole nother soul into their own body. Again, I facilitiate and inquire I don’t really pitch these solutions immediately especially with how drastic the changes can be.

Now it becomes clear how these cases naturally relate to folks with multiple-souls. For the clients I usually attract, they become cognizant of the other soul when they’re a bit older (early 20s), and usually another soul has a guiding/teaching/balancing energy to accompany a younger or simply less skilled soul. Again, this is different from DID (Disassociative Identity Disorder) because the way that shows up in spirit (for me), is that the soul splinters into parts during traumatic junctures in someone’s life, almost like they’re demarcated rooms of each other that occasionally but don’t always cross over. Also the soul parts look a like, kind of like watching a tree grow a many variegated stem, it’s jagged but they’re still the same soul. For a multi-soul, its full sets of  “aura”/ energy bodies and these energy bodies sometimes even meld (ie. voltron-up). A common issue clients also bump up to is how the different souls can have different needs or temperaments and maybe even conflicting desires in a partner. The genders can also be confusing when say a two soul person, has a very hyper feminine but also hyper masculine soul sharing the same body (and wardrobe). Usually the “pilot” soul, or the front facing one has the final say in terms of physical presentation, but I find that being able to attune to every soul and their particular needs and current state (a “check-in” you might say) is still the best investment for overall well-being.

Since I haven’t mentioned it yet (in this post), I’m a tri-soul, and I find that usually when I’m feeling under the weather, usually it’s only one of my souls that’s having a particular experience and it’s more effective to speak to it directly. I’m also a pretty funny case, because some of my souls know how to walk pretty far in the dream world or even work in the background/my subconscious, so it really would take some time for me to notice that they’re going through something, changes, or maybe have greater needs. Especially for larger systems (say 7-8 souls), it is good to have a check-in round every so often, even if you operate “fused” most of the time. Remember in other dimensions, you all are separate and individuated souls/entities! (kind of like sense8), so your individual experiences also deserve a bit of the spotlight. Now since I mentioned being fused, let me talk a little bit more on the fineprint of that. Choosing to stay welded, rooting into ONE body, even hooking the different soul’s chakras together are all configurations and are committed choices that a soul makes. Sometimes folks better operate in a kind of revolving door set-up (like a gemini or a JRPG team), others during a certain phase in their life may need to voltron up and operate from a fused state more often, kind of like a stacked harmony. When handling souls that are having a hard time cooperating, synergising or simply being hooked into the body, usually there’s a negotiation to help them better stitch together. To be honest sometimes it’s just a skill issue in a sense that it’s hard to meld soul parts that you can’t feel in the first place? Thus again the best asset of psycho-pomp is this piercing clarity of where the hell is anything and being able to notice where the disharmony, or missing parts are most commonly occuring.

So for example, maybe the primary/pilot soul has a pretty botched root chakra in another dimension, and the other accompanying soul has a better root energy but also likes studying this other soul’s root chakra experiences. So they’re in a mutualism or even sometimes a commensalism-esque relationship. Pilot soul may sometimes feel that their sex drive/pelvis feel so inherently different from the rest of who they are, or feel weirded out at how wise but also dumb they are with root chakra themes like protection or money. Carnal and uncontrollable one day, piercing and stable in the next. This is a pretty common set-up actually that the partner souls compliment/fill-in competencies that the other souls don’t have quite yet. Maybe it’s not root chakra, but just a feminine openness, or maybe a weak bodied soul is also partnered with a very strong-bodied warrio spirit. It’s beautiful how nature/spirit seeks to ally ourselves with ourselves. But that’s also where the tricky parts come in. When the “weaker” soul that’s doing the learning/training learns the ropes of the teaching/guiding soul, there’s this jockeying feeling of who gets to do what. Guiding soul used to handle all the money decisions, holy crap now I have to let this softer more forgiving part of me make these money decisions? Really? Oh the hyper-femme soul doesn’t have protector vibes, Not Really. Does She??? So here we see that just like any training-wheels or parent-teacher journey, there also comes a time when control has to be let go of to let another soul come into it’s full maturity. The relationship Will change. Maybe responsibilities are shared more equitably, maybe the sense of what one person can handle simple doubles since the capacities have simply increased. What’s important to note here is that even when souls are sharing in one body, these souls are still going through evolutions, rebirth-death cycles, and are totally susceptible to change. Full Souls that are incarnated, usually go through changes in a lifetime. If the energy you constantly talk to seems unchanging, that’s more of a guide or maybe even your favorite deity/saint. Those energies also do change, but they evolve and in much longer time scale than a human time line.

What else? Folks who share one body can be soul family, previous lovers, or be themselves from a different timeline. Usually when souls are not well-matched, the soul contracts were not well executed or simply did not expect the energetic mismatch to happen so drastically. This is why knowing the contracts is crucial when negotiating better synergy, or at least just understanding what is happening under the roof of your body. I’m well aware that some folks might discount this or reinterpret this as just very convoluted internal family system/parts work, but I’m always a fan of folks going along with what works for them. If what I consider a soul is more useful to you as an archetype or a part, on some angle of the multi-dimensional reality, you’re actually pretty damn right! We all meld into one another at one point anyway, this is only the view I approach things with that helps me differentiate folks who channel a lot, or have different souls in one body, or have a chopped up/fragmented soul.

That’s it for today!

Let me know if you all have questions.

As always my website has booking details should you want a personal consultation.

PS: I’ve looked up other blogs and some folks call this “soul braiding” or “walk-alongs” and really state how rare it is. I feel like since I deal with a lot of cases like this (and very magickal friends too) that I don’t consider cases like this rare or particularly odd? I may also just live in the Philippines where a lot of the Intuitives are pretty heart advanced. Who knows :))
